April Ross
April Ross is only one of the beach volleyball players who have earned medals multiple times at an Olympics. Alix Klineman has become a brand new Olympian and is set to join the team in Tokyo. But more than that, Ross is aiming to capture the first Olympic gold. It could be the last time she has the chance as she is 39 years old. Her confidence is high nevertheless. Ross was reported by NBC Boston as saying that If you put in your highest, and even perform well, you will win the gold. "I'm trying to also try some luck." Ross born the 22nd, 1982 in Costa Mesa California. She resided in the area with her family. Ross played in numerous activities while at Newport Harbor High School. In addition to indoor volleyball, she ran track and basketball in her pre-college days. Although she was a pro when playing indoors, it was clear that her abilities were higher than normal. In her college volleyball season, according to her college biography she played as an outside-hitter, middle-blocker and setter. She was awarded by the Gatorade National Circle of Champions player of the Year in 1999 for her achievements. The year 2000 was the time she won the Orange County Athlete of the of the year for volleyball. Ross and Klineman have been continuing to play in 2017. But, Ross was an important player on the beach volleyball circuit before the pairing. She actually won several major championships while playing with two different partners, one of whom is a volleyball icon. From 2007 until 2013 she was in a partnership by Jennifer Kessy, who is the coach she is currently. Along together with Kessy, Ross won a World Title in 2009, while racing internationally. They were awarded a silver medal in the 2012 Olympic Games held in London. The legendary Misty Maytreanor team and Kerri Jennings took home the gold. As fate would have it Ross was Walsh Jennings' new partner when May-Treanor retired. In 2016, the duo won bronze in the Rio Olympics for beach volleyball. Ross was a student athlete at USC Trojans prior to beginning her pro career. She played during high school and in years prior to hitting the beach as a professional. Ross's playing time with the Trojans was amazing. She was an All-American as well as Pac-10 freshman of the year in 2000 as a young freshman. The Trojans had the chance to get to the Final Four with her help. During her sophomore year she suffered a tremendous personal loss but still managed to repeat as an All-American. Through her last two years as a player, she led the Trojans to the summit of the mountain netting consecutive national championships. She was a fantastic volleyball player, winning the Honda Sports Award in 2003-04 as the best female college volleyball player. Ross majored in international relations at USC. Unfortunately Ross mother Margie was not able to witness her daughter ascend to the top levels of beach volleyball fame. Ross's mother passed away from breast carcinoma in the year 2001. Ross had just become an undergraduate student in the second year at USC. In the aftermath, Ross remains near to her mother who passed away. Margie at the beach as well as in everyday life, continues to inspire her.
