Reese Witherspoon began seriously pursuing her acting career shortly after taking a class at Stanford University. Early in her career, she played part in movies such as Pleasantville and Election. However, it is Elle Woods' portrayal in Legally Blonde which marked a important pivotal moment in her career. Witherspoon received the Academy Award for her performance in Walk the Line in 2005. Water for Elephants, This Means War, and Wild are some of her recent films. Witherspoon received a second Oscar nod for Wild. Her success has also been extended to television. She was a co-star of David. Kelley's Award-winning TV program Big Little Lies and a producer. Witherspoon was born Laura Jean Reese Witherspoon on the 22nd of March, 1976, in New Orleans Louisiana. Witherspoon's parents are a medical doctor as well as registered nurses. She grew in Nashville, TN as the debutante of her school as well as Harpeth Hall.
